2025 Technician Licensing Class

Classes are Saturday Feb. 1st. & Sunday Feb. 2nd. 2025

Thank you for your interest in the 2025 edition of the entry-level Technician license exam preparation course produced by members of the NNY Section, the Tryon Amateur Radio Club (K2JJI) & The Cedar Grove Amateur Radio Club (WW2G). We cover 10 counties in upstate NY and have decades of ham radio experience between us.

This program will run as a mostly "self-study" course with assistance from NNY licensed subject-matter experts. We will meet on Saturday & Sunday Feb. 1st and 2nd. 2025. The course sequence will follow the material as presented in the ARRL Ham Radio License Manual (5th Edition) (optional but recommended) and free companion videos by Dave Casler available on Youtube.

Prospective licensees participating in this course will have a good chance to pass the Technician licensing exam given by our Volunteer Examiner team at the new East Berne Fire Department located on Route 792 Helderberg Trail (Rt443) East Berne NY 12059. Click Here For Map

How To Get The Required FRN

All amateur examination applicants will be required to provide an FCC Registration Number (FRN) to the Volunteer Examiners (VEs) before taking an amateur exam, in place of a Social Security Number. An FCC video provides step-by-step instructions on how to obtain an FRN through the FCC’s COmmission REgistration System (CORES).
